Politics and Marketing

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Its so super important to remember that when Running for Office you have to Market yourself and do it well. Today is the Voting Day at University of Arkansas for ASG-Associated Student Government. How did I know? Well one of the Candidates is on campus promoting how and where to vote, his name on cups and just being the nicest guy. He (Jonathan W.) was on campus bright and early with Cups and a Smile.

It just goes to prove that Relationships are VITAL when voting. Yes the issues are important, but Im sure that the issues on campus are not as pressing as a City/State/ Federal Level. Yet I will say that knowing a person and their personality is a big swing when getting a voter.

A like-able Canidate can potentailly win more votes then a person who is well educated on the issues. Yes it is all Politics and Marketing.

Everyday Marketing-Red Lobster

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

redlobster

While dinning at Red Lobster today I had noticed that they had completely revamped their restaurant. Just a few observations:

1. They have a cleaner look, not a lot of nick-nacks and decor to make it look cluttered anymore. Its very simple and clean.

2.The other thing that they have changed the menu. They now have a lunch menu that his shorter, a little cheaper. Yet it insures that that more people can come in for lunch and get in and out quickly.

3. The other thing that really caught my EAR is that they call their servers “Sea Food Experts”. I would sure like to know how you feel about this term. Do you think they are true experts? Have they had formal training?

Let me know how you feel about this and have you had a great experience with Red Lobster?

Where’s Your Sign?

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

82654761_c1d878abfbWhat kind of Message are you sending with your signs?

Here are a few Tips to Think of with Signage:
1. Are you communicating all that you want across? Make sure to include a vast array of people who may read your sign (aka the Dogs) .

2. Make sure to look at the most simple of things such as Spacing, Font Styles, Font Colors, Font in General and Spell Check.

3. if you have a sign with a photo on it make sure its appropriate at all angles (Hint: this may require you to make sure it does not have any adult under/over tones).

4. Test Market. Its always good to ask a few people to look over things and get their opinion. It may help you see any overlooked mistakes.

Marketing 101

HelloMyNameIS

Just a quick reminder about Marketing and Branding yourself.  If you are independent/sole proprietor /self employed/ or contracted individual there a some basics about Marketing and Branding yourself.

1st Make sure you have  cell phone with voice mail that when your clients call and do not get an answer from you is reassuring to them that you will receive your voice mail and you will get back to them in a timely manor. Also make sure it is Professional!
2nd When you are working for yourself and only have home office it is ok! Just because you do not have a store front does not make it unprofessional just don’t advertise it. Make sure you have a P.O Box instead. Many business do this to help cut down cost in a Slow Economy.
3rd Network like CRAZY! Cold Calling is out and meeting people face to face will always be more effective then sending out random print media or calling potential clients. Remember you are a client to someone else and would you want them to do the same to you?
I hope you take these BASIC Concepts and really use them as a Marketing Tool!
Remember “Everything is Marketing, and Marketing is Everything”
